Xbox Insiders Get Early Access to Discord Streaming and Direct Calls

Discord is about to get way more useful on your Xbox

You can leave the Discord app behind and connect with friends directly from your Xbox.

You can already stream Xbox games on Discord. Now, the pair are merging even more to make it easier to stay in touch with friends on the instant messaging platform directly from your console.

The preview, announced in a recent news post, is available for Xbox Insiders in the Alpha Skip-Ahead and Alpha rings. The new features coming to the Xbox Series X, Series S, and Xbox One let players watch Discord streams and call users directly.

Viewing your Discord friends on your Xbox to access these changes requires your accounts to be linked. Once you've done so, your Xbox Friends list will include all the friends you have on Discord.

In the "Happening now" section, you'll see which friends are playing a game or chatting. From there, you can start a call, join a voice channel, or select "View stream" to watch their gameplay. Viewing a stream works regardless of where the person is sharing their screen, whether it's from their phone, computer, or another Xbox.

Install the Xbox Insider Hub app on your console to join the Xbox Insider program to access these new features as they roll out over the next few weeks. Availability for everyone else will follow at an undisclosed date.
