Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 and A9+ Promise Hassle-Free Multitasking

Up to 3 splits on the 8.7- or 11-inch screen

Samsung's newest tablet line is going global with better processors and larger displays, but pricing information isn't yet available.

Samsung just announced that its Galaxy Tab A9 and Galaxy Tab A9+ tablets, which were released in South America and the Middle East in early October, are now available globally.

The Tab A9 and Tab A9+ are noticeably improved with Mediatek Helio G99 Octa-Core processors and larger display sizes which Samsung says will make multitasking easier. The Tab A9 has an 8.7-inch screen with a 60Hz refresh rate, while the Galaxy Tab A9+ has an 11-inch screen with a 90Hz refresh rate. But that's not where the differences end.

In addition to Wi-Fi 5 support on both devices, the Tab A9 has 4G LTE connections, while the Tab A9+ offers 5G, and the Tab A9 supports Bluetooth 5.3. The Tab A9+ has a minor disadvantage with Bluetooth 5.1, however. Both tablets have an 8MP rear camera, while the Tab A9 has a 2 MP selfie camera and the Tab A9+ has a 5MP front camera.

In the announcement on Samsung's website, TM Roh, President and Head of Samsung Electronics Mobile eXperience Business, said, “With the latest Galaxy Tab A series release, we’re making it easier than ever for all to enjoy great entertainment and productive multitasking across the entire Galaxy ecosystem.”

To that end, The Galaxy Tab A9 has dual speakers, whereas the A9+ has quad speakers, but Dolby Atmos powers both models to allow for immersive sound quality. Both tablets are also available in 4GB/64GB or 8GB/128GB configurations, and for those who are truly multitasking wizards (or entertainment gurus), both are expandable up to 1 TB with a Micro SD card. Still, you'll need to purchase that separately. Also, both run Android 13 with the One UI 5.1 operating system, and on the Galaxy Tab S9+, you have access to Samsung DeX, allowing you to open up to three windows at a time.

The Galaxy Tab A9 and Tab A9+ will be available in Graphite, Silver, or Navy, though pricing has yet to be released. According to the announcement, the tablets are available today, but it may take a few days for retail locations to catch up with listings and pricing information.
