What We Like
  • Four color modes, each with a dedicated button

  • USB port for charging devices

  • Foam padding on the bottom

What We Don't Like
  • Expensive

  • Plastic design feels cheap and flimsy

  • Highly reflective surfaces

The Lightblade 1500S LED Lamp has multiple color modes, dimness levels, a USB port, and decently flexible arms, but doesn’t offer anything that other, cheaper lamps don’t include.

We purchased the Lightblade 1500S LED Lamp so our expert reviewer could thoroughly test and assess it. Keep reading for our full product review.

Most LED lamps on Amazon have cheaper components and designs. So when looking at the costly Lightblade 1500S LED lamp, we expected a superior, sturdy construction and a good range of features. Unfortunately, the Lightblade’s flimsy plastic construction belongs on a budget lamp, not one with a price higher than most competitors with no real extras to speak of.

Design: Cheap plastic

There’s no need to sugar coat it—the design of the Lightblade 1500S resembles many plastic LED lamps that sit comfortably around the $20-30 range. The glossy black plastic is highly reflective and will quickly become covered in dust, hair, and fingerprints. It’s a disappointing design for what should be a high-end premium LED lamp.

Its plastic design, puts it firmly in the budget category, while offering slightly superior arm rotation and attractive touch buttons on the base

The touch buttons are located on the base of the lamp which measures 6.75 by 7 inches. It includes a nice foam pad on the bottom to avoid scratching the table or desk surface. The four different color levels are represented as individual buttons, letting us instantly snap to each mode. Each color mode saved our last used brightness level, essentially storing four different lighting modes, one for each color. Up and down buttons are used to cycle through the five different brightness levels. With a lamp this pricey, we would’ve preferred a slide bar dimmer.

Setup Process: Completely folds up

The Lightblade 1500S comes pre-assembled and folded in the box. When the arm is standing straight up, the light reaches a height of about 17.5 inches from the surface of the desk or table. The LED panel can rotate vertically up to 50 degrees up and 90 degrees down, while the arm can rotate 90 degrees forward.

The one standout feature the Lightblade possess in its design is that the lamp head can twist 90 degrees from one side to the other.

Both the LED panel and the arm can be completely folded for easy storage, though rotating the arm forward is tricky to do with one hand. It’s next to impossible to rotate it backward without putting one hand on the base and applying a solid amount of pressure. The base of the arm can twist up to 130 degrees.

The one standout feature the Lightblade possess is that the lamp head can twist 90 degrees from one side to the other. Combined with the solid twisting feature at the arm base, this offers a superior range of angles that most cheaper lamps do not have.

Color Temperature and Brightness: Four color modes and five brightness levels

The Lightblade’s four color modes are divided into the standard options ranging from the amber-tinted nighttime setting (2500-3300K), all the way up to the bright fluorescent-like Study Mode, which reaches up to 6800K. Five different brightness levels are provided, allowing for plenty of configurations, but nothing beyond what many modern day LED lamps are capable of.

Smart Light Options: Standard sleep timer, memory functions, and USB port

The Lightblade 1500S includes a 60-minute sleep timer as well as a memory function for each color mode setting, meaning that each button remembers the last brightness level it was set to. The Lightblade also includes a standard USB outlet for charging devices, located at the back at the base of the arm, just above the power outlet. These are nice features, but like everything else about the Lightblade, you can also find them in much cheaper lamps.

Whether you’re looking to save money or get more bang for your buck, you can find much better options than the Lightblade 1500S.

Price: Simply overpriced

There’s simply no reason for the Lightblade to cost $60 or more, depending on the price you find it on Amazon. Even at a frequently discounted price, it’s still too expensive for a plastic LED light that offers most of the same lighting and rotational options as budget lamps.

Competition: Many superior options

The Lampat LED lamp offers a reflective black plastic design with a similar interface and size to the Lightblade 1500S, for a much more attractive price. On the other end, you can find the TaoTronics TT-DL16 in a highly attractive and sturdy gray metal frame and glass touch screen panel. Whether you’re looking to save money or get more bang for your buck, it’s a much better option than the Lightblade 1500S.

Final Verdict

Budget lamp with a premium price.

There’s nothing inherently wrong with the Lightblade 1500S. Its plastic design, puts it firmly in the budget category, while offering slightly superior arm rotation and attractive touch buttons on the base. But nothing in our testing justified such a big price tag.
