New Workspace Apps, Security Add-Ons, and More Revealed at Google Next

There's even an app that helps you build videos

It's no surprise that Google Next is focused on AI, and also no surprise that the Workspace tools are getting more of it.

Google Next is Google's annual cloud conference, and this year—as expected—it's all about the AI, including AI that you use every day in Google's Workspace apps.

In a blog post detailing the Workspace announcements made at Google Next this year, the company laid out several new features and improvements to Workspace apps. The most exciting of those is Google Vids, a new app that will help you create videos, uses AI to help you choose a style, add scenes, and more. Google Vids will be available starting sometime in June in Workspace Labs.

Google is also updating several existing features with new AI capabilities. One of those is translations. For users of Google Meet, there will soon be a new $10 per month, per user add-on that brings features like automatic transcription in 69 languages and a Take Notes for Me feature that seems like it will automatically summarize your meetings. Google promises other features, too, though exactly what those are was not detailed.

Another add-on, AI Security, is now available for another $10 per month per user. Google says this add-on "lets IT teams automatically identify, classify, and protect sensitive files company-wide." The AI used for this feature can be trained on data specific to your organization so it's customized to your security protocols.

The Workspace version of Sheets is also getting new table features that can format documents for you based on a template you choose. Everyone using Docs is getting new tab capabilities that let you organize your information better. And Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Business, and Google One AI Premium users are getting new Help Me Write voice prompt features and a new instant polish feature that can convert your notes into a final draft document with one click.

You can learn more about these and future updates to Google Workspace apps on Google's Workspace Blog.
