Their next iteration, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold (aka Pixel Fold 2), has already been teased. Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold Release Date The company has confirmed that a Google event on August 13 will mark the unveiling of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and the rest of the Pixel 9 lineup. Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold Price Rumors Google’s latest Pixel Fold came with a hefty price tag, and with hardware improvements expected this year, it's highly unlikely that the cost of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will decrease. If it remains at a similar price point, anticipate spending $1,799 for this foldable beauty. Pre-Order Information Pre-orders for the first Pixel Fold started the day it was announced. If this is repeated this year, you might be able to pre-order the Pixel 9 Pro Fold on August 13. We'll drop the link here when it's available. Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold Specs and Features Google won't announce all the details until the event. But here's what we know about the Pixel 9 Pro Fold based on assumptions and reliable leakers: Bigger Screens One of the major selling points of a foldable phone lies in its dual screens. The original Pixel Fold featured a 5.8-inch exterior/cover screen and a 7.6-inch interior/main screen. If Android Authority's sources are accurate, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will be even more impressive: Cover Screen: 6.24 inches when the phone is foldedMain Screen (Unfolded): 8 inches when it's open like a tablet Compared to the first Pixel Fold's 2208 x 1840 resolution (for the internal display), the next Pixel Fold has a nearly square aspect ratio, with a rumored resolution of 2152 x 2076. The cover screen could get a bump from 1080 x 2092 to 1080 x 2424. Both screens are also getting brighter. The tablet portion has an HDR brightness of 1600 nits compared to 1000 nits in the first Fold, while the outer screen gets a bump from 1200 nits to 1800 nits. We've seen conflicting information about the size of these screens. A different source says the cover screen is 6.4 inches and the inner screen measures 7.9 inches. Either way, the displays will likely be bigger this year. Bigger Battery Given the larger screens, it’s reasonable to assume that the battery size will also increase. While there haven’t been any specific rumors about a battery upgrade for the next Google Pixel Fold, consider that the original Pixel Fold boasts a 4,821mAh battery, which already outperforms the batteries in other foldable devices, such as Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6. Google Tensor G4 A bigger screen and battery don't always accompany yearly phone upgrades like this one, but a newer, more powerful processor is expected. And that's what we're hearing about the 2024 Pixel Fold. The original Fold has the Google Tensor G2 chip, but the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is rumored to introduce the Tensor G4 and increase RAM from 12 GB to 16 GB. Square Camera Bar Another interesting changeup we'll see this year is a new camera layout. Compared to the first Pixel Fold's horizontal camera setup, the next Pixel Fold will have a new, boxy camera bar. We first heard about this back in February, and now it's confirmed via photos from Google. Google Smaller Bezels If you've used the Pixel Fold, you know the bezels aren't exactly tiny. And that's really unfortunate for a phone that costs this much. In these renders that show the unfolded screen, it appears that the bezels may shrink this time around. While this design choice could potentially make the phone slightly more challenging to use, there’s no denying that sleeker bezels lend a more elegant and modern look to the phone. Other Changes According to the source of these renders, the top right of the inner screen houses an under-display camera with a new sensor that isn't included in the current Pixel Fold. This Pixel Fold will likely run Android 15 and should get the same seven years of software updates as the Pixel 8.
