How Do I Arrange My Apps in Alphabetical Order?

While you can’t automatically sort all the apps on your Home screen alphabetically, you can do this to your app list on the Apps screen. Here’s how:

  1. Open your apps list. Depending on your device, you'll have an Apps icon (a circle with dots) on the Home screen. If not, swipe up on the Home screen to see all your installed apps.

  2. Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.

  3. Select Sort, Display layout, or View as, depending on your device.

Some devices sort the apps alphabetically automatically and don't even provide a second option. For example, on a Pixel, you might just see a Preferences button here, which is not the same thing.

  4. Tap Alphabetical order or Alphabetical list. All your apps are now ordered by name.

What Is the Easiest Way to Organize Apps on Android?

The easiest way to organize Android apps on the Home screen is to, one by one, long-press an icon and drag it somewhere else. Here are other ways to manage your apps to declutter your Home screen and make it easier to find your favorite apps:

  • Organize apps in folders. Using folders on Android to group apps together by type or topic is a great way to keep your Android Home screen organized.
  • Delete unwanted apps. If you have old apps you don’t use anymore, free up space by deleting those Android apps.
  • Change app icons. You can change the default icons on Android to create an entirely new aesthetic to help you quickly locate specific apps.
  • Move apps to an SD card. Changing how your apps look on your Android is fun, but it's important to manage how much space they take up. If you're running low on space, you can move Android apps to an SD card.

If you have a Samsung Galaxy smartphone or tablet, all the above tips can be used to organize and sort your apps. If your Galaxy device runs Windows, you can also customize the Start menu
